Ms. Marissa Lindh - Third Grade

Hello! I’m Ms. Lindh and I teach third grade at SHPS! I joined the SHPS family in 2017 after relocating to the Las Vegas area from San Diego, CA.

My greatest goal is to instill a love of learning and a growth mindset in my students. I strive to show my students that through hard work, determination and grit, they can achieve their goals and pursue their dreams.

We have so much fun learning new things in third grade. Last school year we:

-Read Because of Winn-Dixie, Stone Fox, The Tale of Despereaux, The Trumpet of the Swan, as well as many short stories

– Learned multiplication and division facts, fractions, place value to millions, and units of measurement

– Studied geography, the US government and economics in social studies

-Explored climates and weather, animal traits and inheritance, magnetism and motion through experiments in science

-Completed a science fair project using the scientific method

-Practiced cursive handwriting

-Wrote narrative, informational, biographical and persuasive essays

-Took many field trips to places like the Discovery Children’s Museum, the Apple Store, the Golden Knights Hockey practice, and our local bank

It is so important for students to continue practicing throughout the summer all the skills they have learned in third grade. Make sure your child is practicing basic multiplication and division math facts, as well as reading a variety of books.

Here are some great books for outgoing third graders:

“The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” By: Kate DiCamillo

“Frindle” By: Andrew Clements

“Percy Jackson” series By: Rick Riordan

“I Survived” series By: Lauren Tarshis

“Flora & Ulysses” By: Kate DiCamillo

*Students can also practice on First In Math through the end of July!
