Mr. Jeffrey Stafford - Technology/Computer Literacy K-8

Welcome to the Technology/Computer Literacy Class.  My name is Jeffrey Stafford I am originally from Southern California. I was raised in San Diego and moved to Las Vegas in 2007.  My first career was in Professional Theatre working mainly as a Stage, Tour, and Production Manager for Opera and Theatre Companies in Southern California.   During my theatre career, I specialized in educational theatre for over a decade.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Instructional Design.  I am a member of the Kappa Delta Pi, Education Honor Society.   The 2023-2024 school year will be my sixth year of teaching at Southern Highlands Preparatory School.

Classroom Notes

Welcome to School Year 2022-2023.  In preparation for the next school year, new and returning students should practice their typing skills.

Fourth and Fifth Grade students should practice the Word Office Suite Programs (Word, Keynote, Excel) if they have a PC at home or Keynote, Pages, and Numbers if they have a Mac or iPad.

All Middle School students should review how to use Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and iMovie on the iPad and know the basic functions of all of these programs.

The expected typing speeds by the end of the year are listed below.  There are monthly typing tests and every month the minimum speed increases until they are at the end of the year expected typing speed.

Expected minimum typing speed by the end of the school year:

1st Grade:  5 Words per minute

2nd Grade:  10 Words per minute

3rd Grade:  15 Words per minute

4th Grade:  25 Words per minute

5th Grade: 35 Words per minute

6th Grade:  45 Words per minute

7th Grade:  55 Words per minute

8th Grade:  65 Words per minute
