A little about myself. I will be returning to SHPS for my second year in 3rd grade for the 2022-2023 school year. I have a Masters in Teaching from SUNY Potsdam. I have taught in both the inner city and rural environments at both the elementary and collegiate level. I am a member of KDP “Kappa Delta Pi” the National Honors Teacher Society. I enjoy all sports , but skiing and soccer are my favorites. Interesting facts about me is that I used to be ski racer from the age of 5 until I was 21 and I played soccer at the college level for 2 years. I am excited to be returning and I look forward to many years to come.
I love third graders because they are an interesting bunch, as I am sure you know—by the end of the year they’re not little kids anymore, but they’re still learning so much about the world around them. The growth in 3rd grade is amazing and I love being a part of that.
My top goals as a 3rd grade teacher each year are:
1. Turn readers into leaders, who are amazing citizens.
2. Create a classroom where the growth mindset is encouraged and expected.
3. Learn to be organized, have priorities and develop self-efficacy.
I hope that this gives you a glimpse of who I am as a person and what my classroom would be like.
For my 2021-2022 3rd Graders keep working on those multiplication facts and I recommend the “Summer Bridge” workbooks for all my students to keep our learning fresh in your memory.
Interactive Apps: “What Word” like wordle, First in Math and iready (sign in and passwords are in their binders)
Summer Reading List: “One and Only Ivan” and “Tale of Despereaux”.
