From the Principal
Since 2003, Southern Highlands Preparatory School in Las Vegas has been known for its excellence in preschool through eighth grade education. Parents have complimented us on our passionate and dedicated teachers, our rigorous, standards-based curriculum and our understanding of the needs of each child.
Our curriculum was designed by the Nobel Learning Education Department, a team of highly-skilled experts in curriculum design, instruction and assessment. Links to Learning, our preschool curriculum for children ages 2 to 5 years, takes advantage of a child’s readiness to learn with activities that are fun, challenging and engaging. Our elementary and middle school programs provide opportunities for students to master basic skills, problem solve, make positive decisions, and practice higher level thinking. Teachers personalize lessons to ensure that instruction is stimulating and challenging for each student. We believe that beyond the core subjects, classes in art, music, technology, Spanish and physical education are essential to educating the whole child.
Our curriculum is founded on rich and challenging content that engages students and inspires them to develop a love of learning. We understand however, that students need more than academic knowledge to achieve future success. Field trips are one way to help students make real life connections to lessons learned in the classroom. We take advantage of the rich resources in our area by visiting places such as Red Rock Canyon, the CSN Planetarium, and Lake Mead.
Learning and enrichment continue before and after school. Our after school program runs from 3:15 to 6:00 pm, and includes fun and educational activities such as volleyball, student council, cheerleading, visual arts, and martial arts. We understand life can be hectic, and are here to accommodate your busy schedule.
Please feel free to contact me to schedule a private tour. I look forward to meeting with you, gaining an understanding of your child’s educational needs, and discussing how we can work together to meet them. In the meantime, visit us on Facebook and Twitter to see some of the exciting activities going on at our school.
